In the midst of a supposed recession, it is always inspiring to see Scottish Companies thriving in the international economy.
More so, I always feel a certain sense of pride when I hear great success stories of companies that I have mentored.
I worked with Gillian, Co-Founder at Moviecom.tv a couple of years ago to help them establish a high growth business strategy. With online video usage fast becoming one of the most powerful communications tools for businesses, Moviecom.tv offered an online video platform that empowered businesses to communicate their true value and increase revenue at the same time.
I have been standing in the wing watching this company grow and prosper. Just before Christmas, I received this touching message from Gillian:
“A massive big thank you to you from me… we are running at a million miles per hour right now and “Norma’s training” keeps popping into my head.”
Gillian explained a bit about her ‘international jet set lifestyle….
“I was presenting at the Rockerfeller centre in NYC last week, it was intense and amazing at the same time, and it took me back to when we filmed you in Gleneagles in 2008 for the Exchange videos… you just “switched it on” I’m heading to Los Angeles, presenting on 6th Dec….”
After the presentation on December 6th, Moviecom became the winner of the Red Herring global 100. These prestigious awards are presented to the year’s most audacious and far reaching private technology companies and entrepreneurs across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Red Herring’s Global 100 has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Google, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Baidu, Salesforce.com, YouTube, eBay and many others would change the way we live and work and now Moviecom.tv is recognised as having the same potential.
Gillian commented:
” Moviecom is on an expansion journey right now … with over 2300 companies signed up onto the Moviecom.tv platform our next key milestone is to secure the growth investment, we currently have a number of parties interested in Scotland, London, and in US… This will enable the next phase to continue, with our expansion into US market. We are back in US at the end of January presenting again to the New York investment community. 2011 was a phenomenal year, where Moviecom.tv turned a very significant corner, but 2012 is set to see significant growth. All the training & mentoring I have had from Norma has been instrumental in keeping focus and on plan and achieving significant milestones not just in strategy but in delivery also”
Congratulations Gillian, Kev and the rest of the Moviecom team!
I couldn’t be prouder of all your hard work and I look forward to hearing more success stories this year!!!
